It is snowy and cold and that for us means staying in, getting a fire going and enjoying a glass of red that is perfect for gazing out the window from your warm living room.
2008 Quivera Zinfandel (Dry Creek, CA) – $20
Excellent value for Zin from this area! Biodynamic and Organic – Quivera prides itself on wines that really express the terrior. Big, fruit forward with a little edginess to it. Dark fruit flavors of blackberry and ripe cherry accented by white pepper and spice. YUM!
2008 Boxhead Cabernet Sauvignon (Barossa Valley, Australia) – $10
We are switching it up in 2011 with the Cab instead of the Boxhead Shiraz. Another great value! Full bodied and fruit forward – big, ripe fruit on the palate with hints of toasty oak and smoke on the nose. This isn’t a wine you have to think too much about. Just pop open and enjoy. A great wine for the value.
2008Descendientes de Jose Palacios Bierzo ‘Petalos’ – $19
Made from 100% Mencia, a grape varietal that grows well in the region of Bierzo, Spain. If you are looking to try out something different, this is the perfect wine. Big and bold with spicy red fruit on the palate with a zestiness that makes this wine clean and focused.
2007 Michel – Schlumberger Maison Rouge – $20
